On 15th January 2026, Chile and Portugal strengthened their cooperation on lithium innovation during a joint webinar focused on sustainable mining, R&D collaboration, and industrial development. The event highlighted opportunities within the EUREKA Network to foster joint research, support SMEs, and advance battery and refining technologies. Discussions also addressed social license, environmental performance, and regional development, drawing on OECD insights into mining regions. The initiative contributes to building a Europe–South America lithium value chain aligned with the EU-Chile Interim Trade Agreement and the EU Critical Raw Materials Act.
